Because takeaway convenience doesn't have to cost our Earth
From extractive, to regenerative
From the farms to the forests come our greatest allies in making these innovations: cassava, bagasse, corn and birchwood grow quickly, and need no petrochemicals, bleaches or harmful extraction mechanisms. It captures carbon during growth and even provides livelihood for thousands of farmers.
And the best part: worms, fungi and microbes love it. Instead of toxic waste, our containers become food for other living organisms in the soil.
Corn “Maize” Cups: Our Maize Clear Cups are made from a material called PLA or Polylactic Acid, while our Maize Kraft Cups are lined with the same material. This is a type of bioplastic derived from renewable resources like corn starch, sugarcane, and tapioca roots, making it fully biodegradable and compostable. Under the right industrial composting conditions, PLA can break down into water, carbon dioxide, and organic materials. PLA is generally considered non-toxic and safe for food contact, making it suitable for use in packaging for consumables.
Bagasse Sugarcane: Sugarcane bagasse is an alternative to polystyrene. It's suitable for hot and cold food and is freeze-safe, microwave-safe, and oven-safe. This material is made from reclaimed sugarcane, where the the dry fibrous residue left once sugarcane has been pressed for juice. A high-heat, high-pressure process is applied to press and shape the fibers into our takeaway boxes, plates, and bowls.
Cassava Bags: Cassava is a cheap and common root crop. The starch from cassava can be used to make bioplastics which is a biodegradable alternative to petroleum-based plastic bags. Our cassava biobags are designed to be 100% biodegradable and compostable, and is also soluble in hot water. Our biobags come in a variety of forms such as t-shirt bags, griphole bags, mailers, pouches, and laundry bags.
Birchwood Cutleries: An alternative to conventional plastic, our bamboo-derived and birch-derived products are naturally sourced and compostable. The bamboo fiber makes our straws durable enough to last more than four hours submerged in a beverage and makes it safer to be thrown away. Birchwood utensils on the other hand are durable. works with hot or cold food, and are sustainably-sourced.
Kraft Containers: We use sustainably sourced paper and recycled content where we can. The production of kraft paper doesn't involve extensive bleaching, a process which conventional paper uses and decreases the paper's strength. Our Geami 3D Honeycomb Wraps, Wood Boards and Kraft Tapes are great add ons for delivery and gifting needs.
